2015’s Gathering of the Vibes will mark the 11th time in its 20-year history that the festival’s been held in Bridgeport — and the seventeenth year that the Terrapin Foundation will hold its annual food drive at the event. Since 1999, the Bridgeport-based non-profit has collected almost 48,000 pounds of food to benefit the local community; last year, 8,575 pounds of food, hygiene products, and gently used clothing were donated to the Connecticut Food Bank, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and the Center for Women and Families.
How can you help? When you’re packing up for Vibes, make sure to bring some of the items on the Connecticut Food Bank’s most-needed list:
Food Items
- 100% Fruit Juice (cans / bottles / boxes)
- Canned vegetables & fruit
- Chunky soups & beef stew
- Gluten-free products
- Macaroni & cheese
- Peanut butter
- Powdered milk
- Rice / dry & canned beans
- Spaghetti & sauce
- “Sugar free,” “low sodium,” & “no salt” items
- Tuna & other canned meat
Personal Care Items
- Shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Diapers, detergent and deodorant

The Vibes food drive is the Terrapin Foundation’s largest event, but they also sponsor toy drives, neighborhood cleanups, and music education scholarships. You can make an online donation to these endeavors here.
And for the artistic folks, there are still a few days left to enter the poster contest! Design a poster to advertise the food drive and you will win $500 and 2 free camping passes. All entries must be submitted by July 15; entry info here.
See you at Vibes!
