Hong Kong composer and multi-instrumentalist Oliver Cheung has released his first offering, an three-track instrumental EP titled Remembrance. It’s a pleasant, ambient listening experience, but it lacks passion. Cheung has a solid songwriting foundation; moments in “Fragments” and the title track gain momentum quite well. However, I feel this project would benefit from the input of other musicians — it’s often the “unknown” factor in collaboration that turns a decent song into something memorable and unique. A vocalist might be something to think about as well. Have a listen to Remembrance below and decide for yourself:
To find out if Cheung ever decides to get a singer or a bass player, follow him on Facebook and the rest.
